This week, Global Voices brings you 74 Square Meters by filmmakers Paola Castillo and Tiziana Panizza. The documentary airs Sunday, August 26 on the WORLD Channel.
Iselsa, Kathy, tribal leader Ivan, and 150 other marginalized families from Valparaiso, Chile, are chosen to participate in a social experiment that moves them into a middle-class neighborhood. But their new neighbors consider them delinquents who would endanger the neighborhood.
Filmed over four years, 74 Square Meters explores what happens when two worlds collide, and looks at the struggles of attaining one’s dreams.
74 Square Meters will air as part of the Global Voices series on the WORLD Channel, Sunday, August 26 at 10 p.m. (check local listings). Starting August 27, the documentary will be available to view in entirety online via PBS Video (for a limited time only).
